Demo Instance

Demo Instance

A Demo Instance lets you explore CanaryWP without uploading a customer or production site.

What Try demo does

Try demo creates a CanaryWP testing environment using CanaryWP’s maintained demo source.

After creation, the environment can be used like another testing instance.

You can use it to explore:

  • Instances
  • Instance tools
  • Plugin and theme workflows
  • WordPress and PHP information
  • Backups
  • Site Testing
  • Testing History
  • Scheduler
  • Canary Wizard

When to use a Demo Instance

Use a demo when:

  • You are learning CanaryWP.
  • You want to demonstrate the product.
  • You are validating an internal workflow.
  • You want to test the interface without using customer data.
  • You are troubleshooting a platform workflow and want a known source.

When not to use it

Do not use a demo environment as evidence that a specific customer site will behave the same way.

Real sites can differ in:

  • Plugins
  • Themes
  • PHP requirements
  • Custom code
  • Database size
  • Content
  • Integrations
  • Authentication
  • External services

For site-specific decisions, import or connect the actual source site.

Create a demo

Open the import site page and choose Try demo.

Wait for the instance to finish creating.

Then open the environment and use it like a standard CanaryWP testing instance.

Deleting a demo instance

Deleting the created instance removes that testing environment.

It does not remove CanaryWP’s reusable demo source used to create future demo environments.

Recommended learning sequence

For a first demo:

  1. Open the instance.
  2. Review Overview.
  3. Explore Plugins and Themes.
  4. Review WP and PHP.
  5. Create a backup.
  6. Run Site Testing.
  7. Open Testing History.
  8. Try a safe maintenance change.
  9. Run the tests again.
  10. Compare the results.
