Activity and Notifications

Activity and Notifications

Activity and Notifications help you understand what happened in a CanaryWP workspace and what requires attention.

Activity Log

Activity Log is the operational history of the workspace.

Events can include actions involving:

  • Imports
  • Instance lifecycle
  • Backups
  • Domains
  • Plugins
  • Themes
  • WordPress
  • Site Testing
  • Connected/source sites
  • System operations

Why Activity matters

When something changes unexpectedly, Activity can help answer:

  • What happened?
  • When did it happen?
  • Which instance was affected?
  • Which workflow caused it?
  • Was another operation happening immediately beforehand?

Search and filtering

Use available filtering to narrow the event list by criteria such as:

  • Category
  • Instance
  • Date
  • Search text

For troubleshooting, start with the approximate time the problem began.

Instance-specific activity

When investigating one environment, open its Activity area to remove unrelated workspace events.

Export

Use Activity export when you need an external record for:

  • Audit
  • Investigation
  • Incident review
  • Support
  • Internal reporting

Protect exported records according to your organization’s data policies.

Notifications

Notifications surface operational information requiring awareness.

Notifications may represent:

  • Success
  • Warning
  • Failure
  • System event

Reviewing a notification

Do not dismiss an alert based only on its title.

Open the linked resource when one is available and inspect the related:

  • Instance
  • Test
  • Backup
  • Workflow
  • Activity

Read state

Mark notifications as read after they have been reviewed.

Mark all read should be used when the existing notification set has genuinely been reviewed or intentionally cleared.

Notification access

Notification visibility should respect the appropriate account, workspace, and permission scope.

A notification intended for one user should not be used as a substitute for a workspace-wide event; workspace-wide operational information belongs in appropriately scoped activity or notifications.

Troubleshooting from an alert

For failures:

  1. Open the linked resource.
  2. Review Activity.
  3. Review the detailed error.
  4. Inspect logs where applicable.
  5. Determine whether the underlying action can safely be retried.
